Divi's CEO, Geoff McCabe, has a sincere and holistic approach to business. It's a strategy that has brought him success in multiple companies over the past 25 years. In the essence of this holistic business approach, Geoff created the idea to invite several Divi stakeholders, employees, and community members to the first-ever (and hopefully annual) Divi Retreat in Montezuma, Costa Rica.
Roughly thirty of us and our significant others are making the journey to Geoff's eco-village, Rancho Delicioso.
Once there, we will engage in activities and seminars that will bring us closer as a family, team, and community. The goal of this 6-day adventure is to disengage from the stressors of modern society, reflect on the past two and a half years since Divi's inception, and discuss ideas to enhance Divi moving forward into 2020 and beyond.
This Retreat is isolated to a small group of early Divi stakeholders and employees to see how and if the concept works and hopefully expand so that more of the community can participate next year.
As I'm writing this blog post, I am sitting in the San Diego International Airport, waiting to board a flight to Costa Rica by way of Atlanta. It will be a long day of traveling for an event I am genuinely looking forward to. I can't help but consider what may come of this endeavor, and I'll share some of my thoughts here.
As some of you know, I am preparing the 2020 Roadmap for release in the coming month. I am always pushing myself to become more organized and innovative so that Divi may always stay at the cutting edge of blockchain technology and decentralized finance. My first and foremost goal is to open discussions with everyone there, including the relatives and significant others. In doing this, I hope to gain a new perspective on how Divi can and should be used.
Kasper, our lead mobile developer, is bringing along a never-before-seen demo of Divi 2.0, which I'm thrilled to get my hands on in-person. Divi 2.0 is, of course, a significant part of our 2020 Roadmap.
Here's a teaser of the performance interface:
Open a Ridivi account
Since I will be in the area, I figure I might as well open a Ridivi account, right? I can't wait to make my first deposit into Divi's very own financial services company and get one of the first Ridivi IBANs.
Learn to surf
I have lived in San Diego for six years, and I've never learned how to surf! I aim to change that this week during my visit to Costa Rica.
Learn something about the community
Our community is one of the most diverse and exciting groups of people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. But, because I only meet with everyone online and rarely meet face-to-face, it's hard to get to know someone on a deeper level. I intend to change that this week by diving deep into conversation with everyone there.
Learn something about myself
No Retreat is complete without self-realization. I look forward to stepping outside my comfort zone to learn new things about myself.
Back next week
We will be back in full swing next week now that the Thanksgiving holiday is over, and the Retreat will be through. Community members can also expect a video recap of World Crypto Con on Sunday alongside our Monthly Update.
Thank you all for your continued support, and I look forward to posting pictures and videos from the Retreat for everyone to see!
