I’m pleased to say that mobile development is beginning to move at a pace that puts us on track for a release candidate, tentatively within the next quarter.
The first mobile .apk file (Android app) was delivered on Wednesday and is undergoing internal testing. So far, we can verify that creating and restoring from mnemonic seed phrase and send, receive functionality are working on mobile. This may sound trivial but it’s actually a major step toward the final goal.
More importantly, a framework has been developed that makes adding new coins to the wallet essentially a “plug-and-play” operation. This additional work performed by the team will accelerate us toward our goal of creating the most comprehensive, easy to use, mobile Smart Wallet that sets the standard for usability and accessibility.
While the blockchain team works towards the impending hard fork, which will implement a number of important features that we aim to include in the mobile applications, the Full Stack team will begin working on user-flow and styling. We aim to have some working demos of the interface within the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned.
Decentralized Exchange Partnerships
You may have caught our announcement of our intention to partner with CloverDex, a Modular Hybrid Decentralized Exchange that aims to allow for the decentralized exchange of hundreds of assets, with debit/credit card access and much more.
We are most excited about this partnership, along with the partnership with Blocknet because it moves us forward toward our goal of creating a Divified, in-wallet DEX in the future.
These are not the only decentralized exchanges we are talking with, and we will continue to expand our network within this subset of technologies so that the solution we comprise will be the most comprehensive and easy to use on the market.
Trains, Planes, and Automobiles
I’m not sure what time zone I’m in at the moment, or which one I’ll be in when this blog actually goes live. But I do know that I have traveled an immense number of miles over the past 36 hours and my journey is not over yet.
For those of you who do not know, I embarked on a journey from Old Town Train Station in San Diego, California on February 26th to get to LAX. From there I ventured across the United States and woke up on February 27th in New York City’s JFK International Airport. After a 3 hour layover, I took a second plane which arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa the morning of February 28th (local time) so that I could deliver a 20-minute presentation that day on Eliminating the Friction Tax: The Path to Mass Adoption at the Blockchain Africa Conference. I then promptly passed out for an indiscriminate number of hours and here I am, March 1st, writing our update and preparing to head back to LA in a little while.
The energy that the Divi community (and some terrible, hotel room instant coffee) provides is the only way I’m able to get through these insane hours of travel to deliver our message. I truly believe that we are solving a massive issue in Cryptocurrency and, although most of the world still looks on crypto as a speculative asset, when they are ready to use it as a currency - Divi will be there with all of the solutions they’ll be looking for.
I will travel to Mars and back if it means I can convince just one more person of that fact so, from the bottom of my heart, thank you all for supporting us in this endeavor and I look forward to many more sleepless hours spreading the Divi message!
As always, have a great weekend and if you have any questions, find us on Telegram or the Forum
