Divi Project Revised Plan, Roadmap and Program

The Divi Project was founded to develop a simple to set-up multi-tier masternode system and a Smart WalletTM with the crypto world’s most user-friendly interface. After launching the blockchain and guiding early adopters through setting up their mvp wallets and nodes in advance of beginning redemption, many members of our community reached out to us and asked us to revise our development priorities.

What we heard loud and clear is a few things:

First, that safety of funds was the highest priority, even over initiating masternode income production and fully developing simple to setup nodes. There are many examples in recent months that have shown the damage caused by assumptions about security. And while we had encryption enabled for our wallet, it was not sufficiently user-friendly.

After review, we concluded too many of our community might not properly secure their wallets using command line instructions in the mvp wallet. This was an unacceptable risk, and we are grateful to our community for making this message understood.

One other note, please understand that we have rejected the suggestion to move forward with the launch and redemption at this immediate time. It would favor the tech-savvy community members, and that is not our vision for our Divi Project ecosystem.

To address these issues we will be creating four new features to resolve the security concerns. We did have these features in the apps already, but they were only available through the command line featues and weren't that accessible to all users. The way we will be developing these features will be a little different than how we have done things in the past since the blockchain is up and running. So you can expect to see weekly builds which will you will be able to download and use to see the features yourself. We will also add a new section to the website so that you can see the progress of these features and the percent complete.

New Features

  1. First run info on security hygiene and setting up a wallet
  2. Lock and unlock wallet (encryption)
  3. Seed phrase on first run
  4. Recover with seed phrase

More details on these features at the bottom of this post.

Second, our community opened our eyes to the toll of the daily announcement schedule that was taxing on not only us but also our community. We are very sorry for how we tried to rush to delivery without fully considering how our passion would translate into stress and anxiety for the community endlessly waiting for the launch.

We would like to say how much we appreciate our community’s concern for our well being that has been expressed by many. We are fine, but our chosen launch schedule and communication tactics have been very stressful on us too.

The realization that rushing to market to make a deadline that we created does not in the end create the product we know the market wants and needs. We have learned the lesson from this experience, so from now on we will not communicate deadlines without certainty and not have endless “soon” comments that build false hope. The new guiding development principle is software releases will happen when they are ready.

We are a small, committed team with big hearts and a detailed vision for what we believe is needed to accelerate cryptocurrency adoption. We would not be funded nor could we keep going without the incredible understanding, unbelievable patience and unwavering support of our community of early adopters and contributors.
We believe you will see a revised plan that incorporates your feedback and our lessons learned. Please contact us in Telegram and Discord with additional ideas. We are listening. We also plan to start discussion on the governance system after we get through the immediate development priorities. Once again, we want to express our gratitude for the many DIVI Project supporters who continue to share our vision and passion.

Updated timeline changes and a request for a vote:

To fulfill our commitment to deliver in a realistic timeframe our value proposition of simple to set-up masternodes and a user-friendly wallet interface, we are making the following changes:

  1. New Release Plan - Safety and accessibility comes before speed, so we are going to adjust the timeline accordingly. To assure that goal, we will inform the community once development has reached an acceptable point for software releases in general and the redemption process in particular. Roll-out would begin 3 days after an announcement.

  2. New Development Roadmap - Next Monday, July 9, we will release an updated, detailed roadmap to help the community see the immediate work that is required for a successful blockchain, masternode and staking launch based on your feedback and our ongoing internal testing, with an enhanced focus on security that everyone can use.

  3. Genesis Block Token Vote - Since the generation of the Genesis block on June 25th, 2018, roughly 10M DIVI have been generated by nodes that were set up on the network as “placeholders” to keep the network secure and functional while people redeemed their coins and entered the ecosystem. Since the launch did not yield the expected results and users were unable to redeem their tokens on launch day, these nodes remained active while further development took place. This additional coin mint outside of the expected starting total supply of 617,155,500 DIVI presents several opportunities we would like to bring to a communal vote in the form of three options. We will still need to add some additional divi to cover the redemption fees. We will publish the exact amount before the Genesis block goes live.

  4. How to vote - In order to keep the vote fair, we will be accepting one vote per wallet with a majority rule vote required to move forward. We have taken a snapshot of the current state of the ecosystem. Each wallet will be counted once.

Cast a vote for one of the options by sending you DIVX vote to one of the following corresponding addresses:

  • Option 1 send 0.01 DIVX to voting address: 0x601160eA9757ed6d3dd20F5D481Bb8ccFd7f7874
  • Option 2 send 0.01 DIVX to voting address: 0xfc71fd325d7f739bCC698EC42fb6e6C9dCf500A5
  • Option 3 send 0.01 DIVX to voting address: 0xb40cF44128cAFb0E06FCB1bA11B05e0d6bb53180

Please comment in your sent DIVX Tx why you picked the option you chose so we can summarize for the community the reasons if we do not reach majority rule.

Divi Voter’s Ballot (One vote per wallet associated with current snapshot)

Voting will end on July 9th at 12:00pm PST

Option 1: Airdrop to 701 staking wallets

We need to prioritize setting up enough staking nodes to begin stabilizing the network for a smooth redemption process. Since three million additional DIVI were generated at the onset of the genesis block, and more from the core masternodes, we have the opportunity to do a huge airdrop to our community.

Participants would be required to prove they own 1000 or more DIVX, and would receive 10,000 DIVI dropped directly into their CLI staking wallets, from which they can start staking immediately to earn more. We have already taken a snapshot of the 701 current wallets with 1000 or more DIVX to avoid whales splitting their wallets into multiple ones in order to try to qualify for extra airdrops.

Option 2: Burn the tokens and move on

We could send these tokens to a dead address, never to be seen in circulation again. This would keep the current chainstate active and not require a genesis reset.

Option 3: Reset the Genesis block

For the sake of posterity, we could remove this additional ~1.6% token supply by regenerating the Genesis block and starting the blockchain from square one. This option would mean simply waiting for the official blockchain release.

New security features

  • First run info on security hygiene and setting up a wallet
  • Will have a link to wiki post on how to keep your wallet secure
  • This feature will walk users through encrypting their wallet
  • Take them through making their first wallet
  • Walk them through restoring a wallet

  • Will have a link to wiki post on how to keep your wallet secure

2. Lock and unlock wallet (encryption)

In most core wallets you’ll find the unlock wallet option under settings (Settings >> Unlock wallet). Just enter your passphrase to unlock your wallet. By unlocking from here you can access most part of your wallet. You can stake, send coins and even export private keys.

This will allow the user to lock and unlock (encryption) their wallet.
This will also allow the user to set a password in order to unlock the wallet

3. Seed phrase on first run

A mnemonic phrase, mnemonic recovery phrase or mnemonic seed is a list of words which store all the information needed to recover a Divi wallet. The wallet will generate a mnemonic backup phrase and instruct the user to write it down on paper. If the user's computer breaks or their hard drive becomes corrupted, they can download the same wallet software again and use the paper backup to get their bitcoins back.

This will take a user to a screen where they can easily record their seed phrase for recovery.
This will happen as soon as the user sets up a new wallet

4. Recover with seed phrase

All Divi seeds are 24 words, and you need to enter each word one at a time during the Divi wallet restore process. After the seed phrase is completed, you can then send any of the funds that were stored.

This will make it easy for a user to recover using a seed phrase
