There’s a lot to cover in this week’s update. We’ve got some new partnership announcements, some fun, new tech for you to play with, a roadmap update, and some information about which conferences we’ll be attending over the next couple of weeks.
Let’s start with the development update.
Development on the mMOCCI (Mobile Masternode One-Click Cloud Installer) is now 50% complete. The server architecture is built, and the implementation of functionality is underway within the mobile wallet. Over the next week, we expect to begin beta testing the feature on the test network and preparing it for production use.
The new test network is live, and daemon binaries are compiling now. We expect cross-platform binaries to be available early next week, but if you want to compile it manually from source, you can take a sneak peek at this branch on our GitHub.
Please note that this branch is a work in progress and should not be used to try to connect to the main network.
Proof of Stake V3, Atomic Swaps, HTLCs, SegWit, and Lightning are all present in the code present on that branch.
In the coming weeks, we will release the Divi Lightning Network Daemon so that users can open test net bi-directional payment channels and developers can begin playing around with the technology.
Before the upgrade
There are two more features to be implemented before the official upgrade of the Divi main network can take place:
1. Human-Readable Addresses
We have consistently called this feature “HRAs” or “Human-Readable Addresses,” but there is so much more to the reality of what we’re going to bring to the Divi ecosystem with this feature. While the upcoming upgrade will enable human-readable addresses, many additional features will be available as a result of this unique implementation of Namecoin. The application will allow us to store essentially any piece of user data on-chain without sacrificing decentralization or user privacy.
If you want to know more about the possibilities and use-cases for the execution of Divi’s version of Namecoin, you can check the Namecoin docs.
2. Fast-send by default
You may have read about Dash enforcing their incredible “fast-send” technology as a default transactional method on their network. We already have this technology in our blockchain as a result of forking PIVX, and we feel it makes sense to enable it by default as well. This decision brings minimum “spendable” time on peer-to-peer transactions down significantly.
Do you own a Raspberry Pi device and would like to run a Divi full node on it for staking, masternodes, development, or just for fun? Well, now you can!
Very early progress on the @DiviProject#RaspberryPi node. We are committed to making one-click/no-click solutions so that anyone can start their crypto journey, easily. 💪
You can download the image, flash it to an SD card, and start rolling with Divi in no time.
We recommend a 64GB, class 10 SD card and Raspberry Pi 3B+ for the best performance.
Please note, this is alpha software that is still undergoing testing. It should only be used at your own risk and with a solid understanding of blockchain technology. Divi will not provide support on pre-release/alpha software.
We will release more documentation regarding how to run a Divi Smart Node on your Raspberry Pi next week.
New Fiat On-ramp
Divi is now available for trading on CryptoWolf, a non-custodial cross-chain swap tool that also has a fiat on-ramp open. Now, users can purchase $DIVI with $USD, removing much of the friction that comes from onboarding into a new alt-coin.
U.S. based users can swap with any cryptocurrency. However, the fiat onramp is only available to non-U.S. customers. Send a letter to your Congressperson if you would like that to change.
Expect wallet and website integrations to be released within the next 30-45 days.
Note that there's a 12% commission for fiat purchases by credit card, which is how they deal with the issue of chargebacks that usually makes this uneconomical. Also, the maximum purchase is US$1000.
New cloud staking partnership
As a result of a Twitter poll that our community helped us to win, Divi is now available for cloud staking on MyCointainer.
There is also an opportunity to win 425,000 $DIVI in a collaborative contest we are running alongside MyCointainer. Find out more about how to win here.
I (Nick) will be attending two conferences next week, both in Los Angeles, California; Security Token Summit and Crypto Invest Summit. If you are going to either one, reach out to me on Twitter and let’s meet up!
