Things are certainly ramping up here at Divi as we move ever closer to upgrading the network ecosystem and shifting into a new paradigm. There is a lot to talk about this week, so let’s dive right in.
Development is moving along as expected, despite some blocking issues for which we have already found a resolution.
Our first successful, one-click, mobile deployment
I am thrilled to announce that, as of this morning, we have successfully deployed our first mobile masternode to the cloud. Divi already makes it easier than ever to earn cryptocurrency, but now users can do so right from the comfort of their palm.
The process is meant to be entirely hands-off in that a user clicks deploy, pays for the subscription, and sets their phone down. A push notification will arrive when the server is fully configured, and users can easily view their earnings right from the Divi mobile application.
Post-upgrade core developments
Work continues improving the upgraded Divi Core. Currently, the new core is working on the test network, and the Beta Bashers are reporting bugs now.
A move into the QA phase signifies a significant milestone of progress towards the actual implementation of all of the new technologies on which we’ve been working.
Lightning Network, not just a vanity feature
As soon as the core is working in it’s upgraded state, the Bashers will begin testing the LND (Lightning Network Daemon). If you didn’t catch Geoff’s article on Divi’s unique take on Bitcoin’s Lightning Network, I suggest that you do so now.
We are currently looking deeper into how Divi masternodes can be used to fund lightning channels. We are proposing a change at the protocol level to accomplish this. Now, there's a method whereby the masternodes continually prove that they are still collateralized. There's a UTXO (unspent transaction output) with the collateral that the masternodes check is still present.
So, the goal is to find a new way to prove the masternodes are collateralized by polling the address to ensure that enough funds are present. This innovation is a significant differentiator from Dash and is an entirely new implementation and use-case for masternodes.
Be aware, this is just a hypothesis at this point, and if there is a reason why using UTXOs is a requirement, then we can perhaps create a second UTXO, using our implementation of Namecoin metadata like a certificate that allows for changes.
If that doesn’t work, we can create a second-layer database of the UTXO changes. These changes can occur when a bad actor forces a lightning channel to close down, which creates a new UTXO when the HTLC fulfills.
Divi in the media
Divi Project appeared in the media a few times this week as several blogs picked up the Lightning Network article that Geoff published.
Divi is the newest official sponsor of the wildly popular podcast, Free Talk Live. Free Talk was the first media outlet to break a major story on Bitcoin and is the reason why many of the thought leaders and crypto celebrities, like Roger Ver, are involved in the industry.
Divi will have a monthly interview slot on the show and will be mentioned frequently in sponsorship shout outs. We connected with the hosts, Mark and Ian at Anarchapulco this year and they are big fans of Divi. We are excited that they are joining the ecosystem and that we are joining their show.
Divi added to SOS Digital ATMs
SOS Digital is a Costa Rica based cryptocurrency ATM company that owns a majority of the Bitcoin ATMs across the country. Divi will now be integrated as the second available currency with their 50+ ATMs. The ATMs are used to buy and sell cryptocurrency as well as refill prepaid cell phone calling cards. This the first physical use-case for Divi and we couldn’t be more ecstatic about the partnership.
World Crypto Con
Some of you who have been with us for a while may remember that we took home third place at World Crypto Con’s Token Tank Live event, which was a pitch competition that awarded us some incredible prizes. One of those prizes is a Gold Level sponsorship package for this year’s World Crypto Con in Las Vegas, NV during Vegas Blockchain Week! We have started the process with the WCC team, and Divi’s branding will be present throughout the conference. I will also have the opportunity to deliver a presentation at the event, expanding our reach even further.
Cryptos & Tokens meetup
I am speaking at the Cryptos & Tokens meetup in Irvine, CA at the end of next month. I will be delivering a presentation on how to earn passive income with cryptocurrency (100 $DIVI to anyone who can guess what my recommendation will be 😜). If you’re in the area, I hope you’ll be able to make it. It should be a great event with many crypto newcomers.
As always, have a great weekend, Happy Easter to those who celebrate, and if you have any questions, find us on Telegram or the Forum.
